Built in ASSISI (PG – UMBRIA) between 1257 and 1265 the monastery
is dedicated to Saint Clare, faithful follower of Saint Francis and
founder of the Poor Clares. The Church, in Gothic forms, has a simple
facade with courses in white and pink stone and a rose window above
the portal. The bare nave has four bays. The Chapel of the Sacrament
has fourteenth-century frescoes and the Crucifix that traditionally
spoke to Saint Francis is in the Chapel of the Crucifix. The tomb
with Saint Clare’s body is in the crypt.
