Roma – Casina Valadier

zoom on the photo

The Casina Valadier is located on the highest point of the Pincio (ROME – LAZIO). It was built between 1816 and 1837 by Giuseppe Valadier, well-known Roman architect and city planner. It was originally designed as a meeting-place but it was only after World War I that the Casina became the “most fashionable” gathering place in Rome for artists, intellectuals and statesmen from all over the world. The guest book of the Casina Valadier contains the signatures of famous men such as Gandhi, King Farouk, Pirandello and many others.

Restoration project

Year 2002-2003
After decades of abandon, the Casina Valadier is once more as lovely as it once was.
In addition to the necessary consolidation works, restoration eliminated the many modifications made in the course of almost two centuries and returned the building to its original shape.Anno 2002-2003
Honed 30x30 cm square tiles were furnished for the flooring
Rough bricks were used in the gardens, which faithfully reproduced Valadier’s original plan.
