Roma – Domus Aurea

zoom on the photo

The Domus Aurea, luxurious residence of Nero, rose on the ashes of the terrible fire that destroyed a large part of the city of ROME (LAZIO) in AD 64. The core of the structure consisting of around 150 rooms articulated around an octagonal hall is what remains today of an area of around eighty hectares.

Restoration project

Restoration overseen by the Sopraintendenza Archeologica of Rome was carried out to recover the masonry structures and the barrel vaults of the main rooms. The formats were made to order for the restructuring of the external walls and the inner arches.
