Greccio (RIETI) - Convent of Greccio

This famous Franciscan convent is located 2 km from GRECCIO (RI – LAZIO), surrounded by woods and overlooking the Reatina valley. It was here that Saint Francis first celebrated Christmas with a crèche or manger scene on Christmas Eve in 1223. A fifteenth-century fresco in the grotto depicts the event.

Restoration project

Reconstruction of the inner paving with rough 30x15x2.5 cm rectangular tiles.
