The cathedral of ORVIETO (TR – UMBRIA) is one of the most significant
examples of Italian Gothic architecture and is famous for the sculpture
on the facade piers by Lorenzo Maitani and the frescoes by Luca Signorelli
in the San Brixio Chapel. The triptych-shaped facade glows with colored
marbles, sculpture and mosaics with a rose window by Orcagna. Of particular
note also is the Chapel of the Corporal with the linen altar cloth
of the miracle of Bolsena.
